TK captured this beautiful photo off the Aft today

Last night I did go to Deck 16 at 11:30 p.m. to see Mt. Etna, but with no information, I did not know which side of the ship, or exactly what time. The moon was almost full, and I really could not see land.  Today I found out the ship did pass Sicily, and some saw the molten lava of the volcano at midnight. The good news is that when we visit Sicily, we will see the volcano at night as we leave port.

The Ionian Sea is connected to the Mediterranean and the Adriatic Sea. We headed around the “boot of Italy” and north toward Kotor, Montenegro.  This sea does have dolphins and even 4 or 5 species of sharks. We did not see any though.

Some of our choices of things to do this morning were Bible study, Zumba, a movie (Belfast at 9 a.m.), poker tournament, line dancing, “Secrets to a flatter stomach” seminar, and jackpot bingo.  Instead, we opted for the Cruise Critic Slot Pool. For $20, each person pools their money for 5 “pulls” on a slot machine ($15 into the machine and $5 into a pool). A record is kept of how much money each person “wins.”  At the end, the money won is divided between the top three and the pool is divvied up between participants. TK likes to participate, but I was talked into it, too.  TK was 2nd and won $37 and each participant got $8 from the pool. We came out ahead!  I don’t think there is much gambling in my future.

We opted for lunch today instead of breakfast, but the highlight was the unexpected “Dessert Extravaganza!”  What would you choose for dessert?

Black Forest Cake

Chocolate Cake

New York Cheesecake

Italian Panna Cotta

Pineapple and Coconut Cake with Meringue

Raspberry Mouse with Citrus Jelly

Mousse

Strawberry Shortcake

Tiramisu

Other lunch choices below--so very colorful!

Our other activity for the day was attending the Port Talk about Messina, Sicily, Italy with Port Expert Hutch.  That will be another great port.

After dinner and back in our room, we watched the Port Talk about Kotor, Montenegro, our port tomorrow. We are going on a tour with Audrey K from Rhode Island who now lives in Clearwater, Florida.  I’m grateful that she made the arrangements! We met her and her husband today at the Slot Tournament---she organized that.

We need to meet them at 7 a.m. tomorrow, so it is an early night for us.  Other options tonight were: music in different lounges-acoustic guitar, pianist, the movie Marry Me, the Production show, Sweet Soul Music, in the theater, the violinist, or Rock the Room Game Show

TK’s Takes:  The desserts in the dessert extravaganza were the best ever.  He enjoyed sitting on the balcony this afternoon.

P.S. Our Princess Patter for tomorrorw noted that our Internet might be even more dicey tomorrow. Darn!
