80s
F, sunny
We
have had remarkably calm seas, lots of sun, and warm weather this week. TK
wanted to test the priority tender theory and we were able to just show our key
cards and get right on the tender boat to shore. We just walked around George
Town a little bit and we both bought some things at Guy Harvey. Guy Harvey is
an artist and scientist whose mission is to educate people about the value of
the oceans and all the creatures that inhabit it. A few years ago we bought a
small GH oil painting of a yellow fin tuna as a reminder of the yellow fin TK
caught in the Pacific off Manzanilla.

Right
now we are on Deck 8 with an unbelievable view of three large cruise ships
(Carnival Conquest, P&O Britannia, and Caribbean Princess) with George Town in the background. It is sunny
with a few puffy white cumulus clouds and a slight breeze, enough to keep us
cool from the humidity. We are seated in the shade on a wicker settee just as
one would picture on ships in times long ago.
Reading and writing on the sea---who could ask for more? We stayed in
the wicker chairs and watched as our ship and the others departed from Grand
Cayman.
Dinner
was flavorful---chicken parmesan and Chateaubriand, strawberry trifle and
Sacher Torte (something like a chocolate cake).
For
our entertainment tonight we went to the comedy show in the Getaway Theater (no
reservations needed.) The first comedian was Lucas Bohn who claimed he started as a high school teacher and has
opened for Jimmy Fallon and Kevin Black. Because his humor seemed simple, I think
he was toning it down for all the children in the audience. The second comedian was Jay Black who claimed
he started as an elementary teacher. He really toned his jokes down to
basically a slide show of young children’s responses to worksheet questions. That
technique might have worked at a teacher conference. The ship’s literature
stated that he wrote and starred in a Hallmark Christmas movie that will air in
November. I will look for that one.
My
next pursuit was to find a place to write the blog with a table and chair near
a bar or piano or something cool like on the Regal. The sweet young lady from Guest Services showed me the
Sunset Bar where there are coffee tables. And TVs. Not quite the same, but I will make
it work so I can finish. If I went to the Garden Court buffet there are
certainly comfortable tables and chairs, but no bar service for my soda! And no
entertainment! I got quite used to writing to music in the evening!
TK’s Takes: It’s a lazy day. He did
think the Regal Princess would be
here. To Lawrence: Smart casual on this ship means overdressed!
No ties have been observed.
