HAVE A CUP OF COFFEE WITH ME IN ST. KITTS!

MSC Divina /St. Kitts
Monday
80F, sunny

Donna and TK researched spots in St. Kitts months ago and both made reservations at Palm Court Gardens, a short taxi ride (uphill) from the port at Basseterre. (I did not know what they were cooking up until today-I had no idea). At first sight I knew this was paradise—palm trees, bougainvillea, luxurious lounge chairs, a restaurant, a Rolls Royce for décor, and an infinity pool that overlooked the bay and our cruise ship.

The small terrace restaurant provided a view to the whole setting so TK and I decided to have breakfast. French press coffee, French toast with real maple syrup for me, and blueberry and banana muffins for TK. Exquisite. Breakfast friends, Ann, Mary, and MJ, here is a destination for breakfast! Friends H and Chris, let's go! You are invited!

We arrived early enough that we were alone at the pool for quite some time, and when people did start arriving, all was still peaceful and private. This was a “beach” where I could spend hours, especially since the palm trees and umbrellas offered shade for me.

TK, Donna, and Lawrence enjoyed the hot tub and then the infinity pool. I enjoyed reading another good book.   We have been to St. Kitts many times, but we never discovered this paradise before.  Donna and I met the owner – it was his home until he decided to create a venue for weddings, banquet events, and travelers like us. He offers an apartment above a storage area, formerly where his mother in law lived, for VRBO.

Five hours later, we decided to walk back to the ship (downhill), and that is when we discovered that the shore area we were passing had BEACH GLASS. Green, blue, brown, and clear! Large pieces. The shoreline was covered with it! All four of us “dove” right in to find as much beach glass as we could stick in our bags and still have time to return to the ship. Donna and Lawrence have seen my beach glass jewelry, Designs by Denise, in Erie and several years ago on a Manzanillo beach in Mexico on the Pacific we (Donna, Lawrence, and I) found lots of glass there worn by the sea. They have been fans ever since and this was a bonanza!! This St. Kitts shoreline almost rivals Bermuda’s sea glass beach! We were too busy collecting the glass to take a photo!

TK collected the top section and I collected the beach glass on the bottom.
Can you see the marble on the bottom, far left?

Fortunately we made it back to the ship just in time to clean up for dinner. This was a two dessert night for all of us: all had Crepes Suzette, Lawrence and I also had bread pudding, TK and Donna had Black Forest cake.

TK’s Takes: He got too much sun today. He gets an award for best choice of destination on St. Kitts!!
